如何问中国人的龄How to ask the age of Chinese

在中国传统文化中，年龄并不被认为是一种个人隐私，在社交中是人们常常涉及的问题。但询问不同的人的年龄，表达方式也不尽相同。对于10岁以下的孩子，一般用“你今年几岁了”，用几来提问。对青年人或者和自己年龄相仿的人，一般可以问“您今年多大了?”用多加形容词大的语法结构提问，出于对长者的尊敬，询问年长的人的年龄则一定要用“您今年多大年纪了？”要加尊称您表示尊敬。

关于以上的几多说两句。几(meanshow many or how much)不仅用于年龄的询问，也常用于对10以下的数字的询问。比如“现在几点了？”“你连续工作了几天？”等，和几的用法类似的有“多少”，等于英语中的how much 或者how many, 多少常用于对10以上的数字的询问，常碰到的有问年龄“老人多少岁了？”问钱有“这本书多少钱?”问面积有“这套房子有多少平方米?”等。

关于“多大”这种语法结构的一般形式是“多+形容词”表示对高度，面积，年龄，时间等的询问，分别为“多高？”“多大？”“多久”等。

中国人初次见面问及年龄，婚姻，收入是表示关心，而英美国家对此却比较反感，认为这些问题涉及个人隐私，这样的询问是一种不礼貌的行为。所以，碰到和外国人谈话交流，还要注意东西方文化差异和忌讳。

In traditionalChinese culture , age isn’t considered privacy . It is a topic often brought upin social occasions. Nevertheless , different ways are employed to ask aboutthe age of different people. For kids younger than 10, people ask “你今年几岁了?”( How old are you?), use“几”ask the age. For ayoung person or someone of one’s own age, one may ask “ 你今年多大了?“, (How old are you?), use “多+adj.” structure to ask the age, for an elder person, however, oneshould use “您今年多大年纪了?”（What’s yourage?）, add polite address“您”to show respect.

About “几”,we introducemore details. “几”means howmuch or how many , not only ask the age less than 10, but also use in askingthe number less than 10, such as “ what time is it?” ask about the time , “ Howmany days are you work continue?“ , and so on. Similar with the use of “几”， thereare “多少”equal to it.Have the same means how much or how many , but often ask the number more than10 , such as asking about age “ how old is the old man? “ , asking about money, “ how much money about this? “ , asking about square , “ how many squareabout this room? “ and so on.

About “多大”, thereare a grammar structure “ 多+adj. “ , express asking about something high , square, age, time and soon, and use like this “ how high? , how big? How long? “and so on.

Chinese firstmeet each other , they will ask you age or marriage or, salary to express his care , but English or American mayfeel disgusted with it, they think these problem about themselves privacy , likethose asking is not polite to them. So, if you meet the foreigners talking ,you should pay attention to the culture different of east and west.
